Learn to Train

Some of you want to be better horseman, and we have an excellent Horsemanship Clinic which will help you understand principals that will get more from your horse.

One of our most popular clinics is the New Owner Clinic, for those who are thinking of getting into the horse business and have hundreds of questions on what to do and how to take care of a horse.

Others want to know the secrets of training, as they have been passed down for generations, and throughout history.  What works and what doesn't?  Which rumors are true and which will just get you in trouble.  What to do with an individual horse?

In the best tradition of John Lyons, but especially geared to answer YOUR questions Hidden Creek takes a new look at clinics.

bulletWe aren't trying to show off how good we are.
bulletWe aren't trying to sell you a bunch of stuff
bulletWe aren't showing you on trained horses

Bring your own horse and let us evaluate it.

Use a horse we have just gotten in and learn how to let him "tell you" what has been done to him in the past.

Ride a horse that has already BEEN successfully trained and learn HOW we did it.

THESE CLINICS ARE INDIVIDUALLY DESIGNED FOR YOU!!

We do customized clinics for single people, small groups, couples or families.  Because the clinics are small, hands on, and customized, they can be what you want them to be and you can learn what YOU want to learn.

We offer three levels of clinics, one which is right for you.

bulletThe popular New Horseman Clinic, designed for those who are new to horses.  Not only do you ride, have your skills evaluated and help you figure out what type of horse you will best serve your needs, we also teach you about care, feeding, health care and tack, including bits and types of saddles.
bulletOur Horsemanship clinic evaluates your skills and introduces techniques that will improve your skills
bulletOur Learn to Train classes focus on how to take an untrained, unbroke, or problem and improve his attitude and performance.  This class is perfect for the rider who wants to bring along horses and improve their value for personal use of for profit.  By far, the easiest way for a horseman to legitimately make money in the horse business is to take horses with problems, untrained horses or horses without quality training and TURN THEM INTO GOOD HORSES THAT CAN BE RIDDEN BY THE AVERAGE RIDER.  While there is almost no market for "prospects," unbroke, green broke, or unruly horses, there is always a good market for well behaved horses.  If you have the interest, these clinics will also teach what to look for in buying horses to train and resell.

Before "horse whispering" was a popular term, trainers like Jimmy Williams, Mac McHugh, and Harold Farren were using the same techniques and calling it horsemanship.  And they were teaching Kandi, who was showing and winning!  Now, we offer a "Learn to Train" program.

"Earl Nightengale motivational speaker and author of This is Earl Nightengale, says, "We literally become what we think about most of the time.  As you see yourself in your mind's eye...so you do become."

What kind of rider, trainer or competitor do you see yourself as?  Do you like what  you see?  If you are not satisfied, make some changes.  Would you like to be a patient trainer, a confident rider or a poised competitor?  Start acting today "as if" you are, and you'll be on your way to making some exciting discoveries."  Jane Savoie in "That Winning Feeling Program Your Mind for Peak Performance."

Here at Hidden Creek, we think it takes a little more.

We think it takes some training as well.

This site is updated several times a week, including whenever we add or sell a horse, or when we learn something new about a horse.  We are constantly riding, trying, testing, showing and trail riding our horses so we know what they really are before we sell them.
