KEY TO SYMBOLS:  Here are a few quick "cartoons" to set off the outstanding qualities of some of our horses.  Just because a horse doesn't have a certain symbol doesn't mean he DOESN'T have the quality, but when he DOES have the symbol it is because the trait is OUTSTANDING in that horse.

This is as close to a perfect as you can get!  He has all the height and size you would ever need. He has a natural frame, three smooth gaits, rides English or western and Neck Reins!  His idea of spooking at sudden birds in flight or animals in the woods is to stop and look.

The rider in the blue shirt above is a friend of Tammy's ...and this is his FIRST TIME EVER SITTING ON A HORSE. He's sound, and a nice mover, and rides easy. He's always been a trail horse, but has adapted easily to a ring.

He has a great attitude and loves people.  He's easy to catch and work around and all of life is fun for him!

This is a great horse! A natural teacher and schoolmaster.  When we bought him (The a few of the under saddle photos) he was a little thin. He has put on a lot of weight and looks good..  I kept him and LOVE him.  I'm 63 and I showed this guy over fences, up to 2'6" and he is a PACKER...He goes to 3', but I don't any more!!  I don't have the balance I used to have and he is patient, and solid.  It doesn't matter if you don't get to a show in time to school, he meets every fence with the same solid attitude whether it's for the first time at a new showgrounds or at home, whether it's with a rider that is on  balance or just along for the ride.

And he is a great teacher.  If you look closely in some of the photos, he is teaching a student to jump.  She is badly off balance in a couple of the photos, but he is still solid.  He comes into fences quietly, can pick a spot, and never over jumps or gets strong.  He has the training to trot an X, or jump it and he can teach a student the difference.

He can frame up and move like a dressage horse, leg yield work up to probably level 3. He does flying changes, is very balanced, can go loose on his own or you can pick him up and ride him between your legs and hands.  He can pick his spot, or you can pick it and he NEVER refuses or runs out. Nothing bothers him, dozens of horses in a warm up arena, a new show grounds, he is always the same.  I just don't ride as much as I used to and it is a shame to keep this schoolmaster when he could be doing what he loves to do...teaching students of any age.

This guy is great!  Flashy is his middle name. Big blaze, with brown spots give him character...and four high white legs.  He has a beautiful light tail.  And he is Quiet and Dependable with capital letters!  He goes out on the trail and works in the ring.  He learns quickly and wants to please.

Some of the top photos are from when we first got him as a 4 year old.  He was thin and immature.  Now he has filled out and looks good. The center photos are from him giving a BEGINNER lesson this winter.  He loves walkovers, plows through water, and has learned to bend and flex.

We think he would learn to jump quickly and make a fantastic large pony hunter.  Or, he will make a reliable trail partner for an adult who wants a dependable, shorter horse.  He's got a great attitude and enjoys life and working with people.  Always easy to catch, he will follow you around like a dog!!  He would love to have a family and give them his full attention, but he's also a great lesson pony.  We've never seen this guy buck, rear, or be mean in any way.

Blue Moon Legend, 2000, 15.2h AQHA

Beautiful dusty buckskin gelding who neck reins and rides quiet.  He is willing to try new things, extremely co-operative and a nice mover with quiet gaits.  When we looked at him they rode him with a halter and lead rope.  He takes both leads, rides in the ring as well as in the ring and he has a lot of trail miles.  He rides as well English as he does western.

We have started him over fences, and have used him for lessons.  He always has a great attitude, whether he is worked frequently, or he stands around for weeks at a time.  He is happy out to pasture or in a stall.

Script, 9 yrs, 15.2h

Great gelding, had a sale on him and the it didn't work out.  We are delighted to have him back.  He neck reins, has great gaits, will carry any rider.  With the snow, he sat in a stall for a month and we brought him out and used him for a lesson and he was as dependable as ever.  The ring was so icy we rode up and down the road and in front of the barn and he was still dependable and honest!

We've used him for lost of lessons and he is patient and steady.  Nice enough to ride anywhere, in any kind of company, he is actually even better looking in person because he is one of those horses that just isn't very photogenic.

Rides quietly English or western, has enough ambition to go when asked, but quiet enough to carry even a happy frog rider.  He is the kind of horse that everyone is attracted to, and we had many people interested in him while he was tied up with this sale.

He's been out on the trail with a 12 year old rider.  He rides in the front, in the back. He has gone down the road, and through trees, across the fields and is in control at all gaits.  He has been in the back area...down the steep creek bank, across the creek, up the other side.  You couldn't ask for a better riding partner.

Austin, 15h, 6 yrs, Quarter Horse with some draft

This guy is quiet, attractive, and competent both in the ring and out on the trail. He has a comfortable head carriage, extremely smooth gaits and is willing without being to work, but would never run off or accelerate suddenly.  He neck reins and rides both western and English.

This guy has great conformation with a big hip and a broad back.  He isn't very tall, but he is stout enough to carry almost any rider.  He is easy to work around and has been ridden by a 70 year old man. He's got a lot of good trail miles on him.  He was broke in the mid-west and rode all over GA with his last owner.

A black and white paint that is easy to keep clean!!  He's got the flash without the high maintenance!  Named for his unusual pastern markings that make him look like he's wearing an expensive pair of shoes, he has all the  style and looks you would ever want.  Good bones, a well proportioned and a truly lovely head.

So, if "pretty is as pretty does" this is one case where the mind is just as lovely as the horse.  He wasn't ridden for 3 months during the storm and he went right off with a 12 year old on him, like he'd been under saddle every week.  We've used him for lessons, he has three nice, smooth gaits and is easy to ride for any level rider.  He goes in the ring or out on the trail equally well, without any spook or bad temper.  On the ground, he has good manners and loves people!

Phoenix, 12yrs

Nice paint gelding, well trained, he frames well, has good breaks and steering. He isn't for a beginner because he has a lot of style and a fast walk, but he doesn't need an advanced rider...just someone who is used to riding enough that the smart style and alert attitude wouldn't scare them. He's been ridden on the trail by a 70 year old man, who finally gave up riding and sold him.

He's a beautiful guy and rides both western and English. This is a horse anyone can be proud to ride.

Nice looking, big body, and a great head.  This great gelding has shown 4-H both western and English. He has great gaits and will carry young riders or those a little more mature!!  AQHA registered with old time bloodlines, this guy was bred in KY, but spent a lot of time in Indiana where they know how to ride a horse and put some training in them.

Boyd rides with a snaffle or a curb and has a great mouth.  He's responsive to leg and is well broke for any ride.

Great gelding has always been a trail horse. He is easy to control and meets new situations with confidence. He doesn't have a great frame because he's always been just a trail horse, but for a trail rider he's safe and willing.  Nice size for an adult or child, he could work into a nice 4-H pony with just a little bit of work.

Nice body, beautiful color, he will get attention where ever he goes.

Starbuck, 9yrs, 15.3h

When I met this horse he was carrying a 7 year old around and doing a good job of it. His head carriage is high because that's the way God made him.  He probably has some gaited horse in him from the head and neck, but he has a lot of nice quiet, honest quarter horse blood in him too!  He's been a delight every time we've ridden him, ready to go if you ask him, but not assertive. He has a lovely mouth, neck reins and is very well behaved. He likes people and comes in the pasture. He's great on trails, but works well in the ring. We've had the students on him since the first day he got here and he's never done anything but work well.

We've been using Starbuck in the camps and I'm amazed at his willingness.  He bends well and has some flexion on him. He didn't know how to jump, but is willing to learn and he caught on fast.  One of our students loved him and the two of them learned to jump together and we doing 2'3" by the end of the session.  He was a fast and easy study, willing to participate in anything and always attentive to his rider.  Another student learned to canter on him.

This is a really nice gelding. He spent several years out in 600 acres with a lot of other horses and a stallion that beat on him on a regular basis!!  He is happy to get back with humans and horses that are nice to him!  He is Standardbred and Quarter horse, a really nice build, and a pretty mover.  He's kind and very willing, great on the trail but equally good in the ring.

He has a very comfortable trot, you can almost sit it, even when it is extended. There is no spook and no bad habits.
