Selling Your Horse

Selling horses can be difficult.  People make appointments and then don't show up, they pick at things about the horse, they can't make up their minds.  Sometimes they just come out to get a free ride! It is all part of retail sales, but it can be difficult to live with.

To help owners sell quality horses, we do take approved horses in on consignment.  You don't have to tie up your life.  Our average time to sell a horse is 3 months, although many sell much faster.

The last consignment horse we had SOLD IN TWO WEEKS, for MORE than the price the owner wanted.

We will:

bulletShow your horse to clients
bulletPut your horse on our website - FREE
bulletPost your horse on free internet sites and give you the option of additional paid advertising which we will place.  We've been doing this so long we know what will pull for your horse and what will not.
bulletEmail information about your horse to our large data base of clients looking for a horse like yours.
bulletWe have a lot of buyers coming to look at other horses Often they are looking for something that will fit them, ~ not for a specific horse, so your horse is available for any suitable buyer.  We get the traffic.
bulletWe work with the vet and owner during vet check
bulletTransport the horse to the new owner if necessary.

FEES:  Unfortunately, because of the rising cost of hay and feed, as of Nov. 1, 2007, board on consignment horses will be going up.

All board and training fees are due when the horse arrives and on the 1st of the month each month after that.  If the horse sells during the month, there is no refund of days.  This is because sales seldom wrap in a single day, and may take two weeks to complete.  All boarding fees must be paid, no billing against the sale.

Stall board Includes regular work to keep your horse in top condition to show to customers. Kept in the barn so the coat shows well. $350 a month

We recommend stall board

bulletNo extra charges for showing the horse, vet checks, etc.
bulletAll horses are kept in the barn, so coats stay in good condition and the horse looks the part.
bulletAll horses are turned out on a regular basis for exercise and fresh air.

When the horse is sold, we receive the following sale commission.

If the horse sells in the 1st month 20% of the sale price
If the horse sells in the 2nd month 15% of the sale price
If the horse sells in the 3rd 12% of the sale price
Any time after the 3rd month 10% of the sale price

You will find that this is LESS THAN THE ENTRY FEE AND COMMISSION CHARGED BY THE BIG SALES.  And the price you get from the farm is almost always higher than it would be through a sale.

If you need to sell a horse through a sale, we can help you with that and take the horse through for you.

This site is updated several times a week, including whenever we add or sell a horse, or when we learn something new about a horse.  We are constantly riding, trying, testing, showing and trail riding our horses so we know what they really are before we sell them.
